Description sommaire de la pratique agroécologique

Horta da Mata is situated in a degraded remnant of the Atlantic Forest (#mataatlântica), where environmental education and reforestation efforts play a key role in preserving this vital ecosystem. The initiative’s care extends to Praça José Felix Lisboa, a nearby public square that also requires attention to ensure the conservation of the surrounding biome. Together, these spaces represent a commitment to ecological restoration and community involvement.

The primary focus of Horta da Mata’s activities is reforestation, with environmental education serving as the central pillar. Through agroecological practices such as soil regeneration, composting, and the cultivation of diverse species—particularly Non-Conventional Food Plants (#PANCs) and medicinal herbs—the project encourages visitors to reflect on topics like healthy eating, conscious consumption, urban rights, and the value of local cultures and productions. These efforts also significantly enhance local biodiversity and create a space for collective learning and action.

Since 2018, Horta da Mata has been open to the community, offering cultural events and workshops that strengthen connections between people and the land. Highlights include the collaborative June festival, #ArraiáMaluco, and regular agroecological experiences that invite participants to engage directly with sustainable practices. The garden is not just a space for ecological restoration but a thriving hub of culture, education, and shared responsibility for the planet.
