OM Kampot Permaculture Foodforest

OM Kampot Permaculture Foodforest is one of the original permaculture projects in Cambodia, established in 2013 and located approximately 22 km from Kampot. Created with passion by Akoo and his family, the project is designed as a living food forest that mimics natural ecosystems, integrating fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, medicinal plants, and wild edible species into a resilient, self-sustaining landscape. Rooted in core permaculture principles, the farm demonstrates how working with nature can provide abundant food while regenerating soil, biodiversity, and ecological balance.

Set in the peaceful countryside of Kampot Province, OM Kampot offers a deeply immersive experience in natural and low-impact living. The project functions as an open learning space where visitors and volunteers can observe ecological processes firsthand, from polyculture food production to simple, off-grid systems adapted to the local climate. Its secluded setting and ever-evolving landscape create a calm, grounded atmosphere—ideal for those seeking to reconnect with nature and understand practical, nature-inspired solutions for sustainable living.

Volunteers are actively involved in developing and maintaining the food gardens, gaining hands-on experience in permaculture practices while contributing to the growth of the food forest. Participants are responsible for their own cooking, supported by an abundance of wild edible greens and other foods growing on-site. To complement what the land provides, a small daily budget of around $1–$2 is recommended.
