NEA Arandu

NEA Arandu

Summary description

The NEA Arandu at Ifes Santa Teresa, operating within a 75-year-old agricultural education system, has advanced agroecology on campus and institutionally. It integrates teaching, research, and sustainability projects, influencing state agroecology policies in collaboration with civil society and government. Spanning 8 hectares, it features agroecological units like agroforestry, organic sheep farming, syntropic gardening, and a seed bank, producing alternative agricultural inputs. NEA Arandu helped found ASTRAL, supports farmer training and commercialization, and has contributed to CPOrg-ES and the Espírito Santo Forum against pesticides and GMOs. As the oldest NEA in the state, it has led efforts to establish new NEAs across Ifes campuses, working towards a Vocational Technology Center for Agroecology.
