The Brasília branch of the Mutirão Agroflorestal operates within the Ecovila Aldeia do Altiplano, championing agroecological principles and permaculture ethics through agroforestry initiatives and active participation in a Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. By organizing collective workdays, the community implements and manages diverse agroforestry systems that mimic natural ecosystems, combining the cultivation of food with ecological restoration. These efforts reflect core agroecological values, such as fostering biodiversity, regenerating soil health, and creating sustainable, resilient food systems deeply connected to the cycles of nature.
The CSA at Aldeia do Altiplano, launched on July 11, 2015, embodies the principles of both agroecology and permaculture by prioritizing local, cooperative, and ecological food production. Each Saturday morning, 11 co-farmers collect their weekly baskets of fresh, seasonal produce, cultivated through agroforestry techniques that align with the natural patterns of the land. These baskets, filled with bananas, papayas, lemons, pumpkins, cassava, lettuce, arugula, kale, chicory, green beans, cherry tomatoes, and cilantro, showcase the diversity and abundance made possible by sustainable agricultural methods. The CSA model strengthens the community by connecting producers and consumers in a mutual commitment to healthy food and land stewardship, embodying permaculture’s core ethic of “care for people.”
Ecovila Aldeia do Altiplano serves as a living laboratory for agroecology and permaculture, demonstrating how these approaches can harmonize human activity with the environment. Its agroforestry systems restore degraded land, enhance biodiversity, and sequester carbon, contributing to climate resilience while providing nutritious food. The community integrates permaculture principles such as zoning, natural water management, and resource recycling, ensuring a closed-loop system that minimizes waste. By weaving together agroecology, permaculture, and the CSA model, Aldeia do Altiplano offers a powerful example of how ecovillages can lead the way in creating regenerative and sustainable lifestyles.

Ecovila Aldeia do Altiplano envisions a future where humans live in harmony with nature, creating a model of regenerative living that inspires individuals and communities beyond its borders. Guided by the principles of agroecology and permaculture, the community dreams of expanding its agroforestry systems to fully restore the local ecosystem, turning degraded areas into vibrant, biodiverse landscapes. They aim to grow their CSA program, involving more co-farmers and families in the shared journey of sustainable food production, fostering a deeper connection between people and the land that nourishes them.
At the heart of their goals lies the desire to serve as a hub for education and collaboration, sharing their knowledge and experiences with those seeking sustainable alternatives to conventional living. The community aspires to host workshops, events, and immersive experiences that teach agroforestry, permaculture design, and community-building practices, empowering others to replicate their successes. Through these efforts, Aldeia do Altiplano dreams of becoming a beacon for ecological and social transformation, proving that small, committed groups of people can create a sustainable and thriving world for generations to come.
