Jardin-Forêt d'Eos

Switzerland

Descripción breve del lugar y las prácticas

Once upon a time, the Jardin-Forêt d’Eos was born out of a simple yet powerful idea in February 2022. By August of the same year, the first designs were sketched, and by May 2023, the initial plantations had taken root. The project, which continues to grow, is a testament to collective effort and shared vision. Alicia Perego, a psychologist by training, embarked on this journey after the birth of her first child awakened a deep awareness of environmental challenges. This realization inspired her to transition to agriculture in 2018, eventually taking over the family farm. Her discovery of forest gardening through the Agro4esterie program in 2021 led her to collaborate with the Jardin-Forêt Suisse Association, marking the beginning of an innovative partnership.

The result of this collaboration is a 3,000 m² space aptly named Jardin-Forêt d’Eos, a tribute to the Greek goddess of dawn. This agroforestry initiative embodies the principles of permaculture, featuring a diverse ecosystem of perennial plants, fruit trees, heirloom vegetables, and edible hedgerows. It also includes a greenhouse for plant propagation and a gathering space designed to foster community interaction. The project has garnered the attention of FiBL, a leading organic agriculture research institute, which is closely monitoring its development. Alicia sees this as the dawn of a new way of farming, aligned with the pressing environmental needs of our time.

Beyond its agricultural role, the Jardin-Forêt d’Eos serves as an educational hub. It hosts workshops for children on topics such as biodiversity, soil microbiology, and botany. A living "green sofa" in the heart of the garden offers a space for outdoor learning, encouraging teachers to bring lessons into nature. Through this initiative, Alicia aims to reconnect younger generations with the Earth. The Jardin-Forêt Suisse Association has played a crucial role by providing expertise in design, implementation, and maintenance, as well as supporting communication and fundraising efforts. Together, they are nurturing not just a garden, but a sustainable future.

The Jardin-Forêt d'Eos is a 3,000m² agroforestry and educational project in Eysins, Switzerland. Created in partnership between the Domaine de Sous-Cor and the Association Jardin-Forêt Suisse, it features a diverse ecosystem of perennial plants, edible hedges, and educational spaces. It aims to promote sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and environmental awareness through public workshops and school activities. The project also explores sustainable food production within planetary limits.

¿Qué sueñas para el futuro de la granja o del lugar en general?

Agroforesty, pedagogy and continuous improvement. The Jardin-Forêt d’Eos aims to create a sustainable and resilient agroforestry system that harmonizes food production with environmental stewardship. By integrating permaculture principles, the project seeks to restore biodiversity, enhance soil health, and provide a model for climate-adaptive agriculture. It also aspires to foster community engagement and education through workshops, hands-on activities, and outdoor learning spaces, reconnecting people—especially children—with nature. Ultimately, the initiative strives to inspire a shift toward more sustainable farming practices while cultivating a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of ecosystems.
