At Manyore Farmstead you can enjoy the organic and partly indigenous food and get inspired through a farm stay; the farmhouse is for rent on this working regenerative permaculture farm. The farm itself is 5.7 ha, with a combination of forest, veld, lawn, greenhouses, a little vineyard, a cropping field and chicken all connected by a walking path that every time of the day looks different. There are plenty of birds and small animals (including monkeys) as well as flora and fungi to admire. Indigenous vegetation is being planted, and invasive vegetation being removed, to further improve the regeneration. If there is farm produce available, you can certainly purchase some. The house is solar powered, with Eskom back-up. The neighbourhood has several restaurants and once in two weeks (2nd and 4th Saturday of month) there is the Magaliesburg Farmers Market opposite the road, to meet many other eco-conscious farmers. Come and get inspiration for climate change adaptation! See further info at www.manyorefarmstead.co.za. We try to grow for African taste and with Southern African plants. We plant indigenous trees that provide fruits both for bird life and humans (and monkeys..). We companion crop. We remove invasive non-indigenous vegetation. We use African chicken to till and fertilize the fields.
We hope that this farm will be an inspiration for climate change adaptation, and provides pride for Southern African plants and ways of life. An inspiring meeting point. It has not been easy so far; we had a big fire, an immense storm, limited water and many financial and time consuming challenges. There are many dilemmas, but every time we find inspiration in the small delights.
