We grow nutritious food and beautiful native perennials to feed both humans and wildlife on our small farm in Skaneateles, NY. We take pride in not only what we grow, but how and why we grow it.
We grow and sell organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs. We grow and sell local ecotype native plants. We design beautiful landscapes of native plants, that can include a vegetable and herb garden. We install gardens and meadows.
In 2024 we will begin to grow more local ecotype native plants intended for seed that we use in meadow mixes.
We educate on how what we do on the land impacts water quality - and quality of life.
We take pride in not only what we grow, but how and why we grow it.
Healthy soil is chock full of microbes that do a lot of work to ensure healthy plants and food; they cycle nutrients, break down crop residues and stimulate plant growth. We protect them with hay or grass clipping mulch, feed them with compost and cover crop, and gently aerate the soil using a manual broad fork tool. We don’t run a tiller through the homes of the microbes we need (that would be like running a bulldozer through your home!). We grow for human AND wildlife needs by growing straight native plant species from wild seed collected in our local ecozones (ensuring greater survivability and interest by native pollinators and wildlife). We don't grow cultivars as they are bred for human preference and often offer less nectar and pollen for insects and birds.
